I, as a Malaysian.

So, as is supposed to be common knowledge, our Independence Day is nearing, that is on the 31st of August which is approximately 3 days away. Sadly, there is a lack of national spirit this time around, as I've noticed the absence of flags and the presence of a monochromatic-esque tone of life in Malaysians today. It probably is due to tragic occurrences that hit our country like atomic bombs this year, namely two plane incidences. Thus, in order to instill a little patriotic spirit in myself, and also to take a break from my books a little,I've come up with a poem-ish thing. Stay and read, or don't. Either way, here it goes :

We live in a world where wars erupt,
Where children are slayed,
Women raped,
And men persecuted,
All under the notion
Of sexism,
Religionism,
And racism.

But today,
We as Malaysians,
Say NO to it all.
We say NO to discrimination.
We say NO to unwarranted mockery.
And we say NO to oppression.

We close our eyes,
And we open our ears to listen to the wind,
Shut down our minds,
But fire up our hearts.
For we shall be like little children,
Born of innocence,
And of colour blindness.
For we do not look at the colour of another's skin,
But at the content of his character.
For we look at one another
Through a rose tinted glass.
For we ARE Malaysians,
We WILL remain Malaysians,
And we are proud to be Malaysians,
Forever and always.
